Final Drift 3

Hear is my final cut for Drift 3. It is the accumulation of all of the walks I went on. It is a piece about how cities are always thriving and living. The sound effect is supposed to represent a mechanical heartbeat. Click the image to watch.

This is the last piece I worked on. This is the drift that I had the tripod along with me.

This is the second piece I worked on. It is a videos piece.

This is the first video i finished editting. You will notice that the sound is the same throughout all of the videos. It is to imitate a mechanized heart beat.

Strategies

Here are some strategies I used in this Drift.

1. The area of the city that I wanted to explore more was the heart of the city. It was the area that seemed most promising and provided the largest amount of interesting things to photograph.

2. I didn't use a specific walking pattern in this Drift. I went with what caught my eye at that moment.

3. I limited my sound capturing to strictly hard sounds. For example; scraping cement with a hard object, tapping a flag pole, dragging a metal pen along an aluminum fence, etc.

Here are a few questions that could possibly help improve Drift #3.



1. Is there any liquid in any of the pictures?
2. Are there any people in the pictures?
3. Do the pictures or sound actually give life to the pictures?
4. Was there any wildlife or foliage in the pictures?
5. Were there any buildings that give the city any humanly features?
6. Can you turn 360 degrees and see any other than buildings?
7. Are there any alley ways that could have led to interesting?
8. What was the strangest location that was found?
9. Could a different sound provide a better explanation of a city being "alive"?
10. Would the daytime provide a better explanation of a city being "alive"?

Favorite times.

The favorite moment of my drifts happened on the third drift. As I stated earlier, I locked my keys in my car along with my cell phone. It was pretty late at night and there was nothing open at the time. To top it off, I had no quarters. So basically I was forced to go to work and get the job done. I had not real worry about getting home, I just went to work.
